Philadelphus are widely distributed around the temperate regions of the globe. Philadelphus Manteau d'Hermine was one of many Phildalephus bred by the famous French family of Lemoine and was introduced in 1899. Manteau d Hermine has been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit. Creamy white, dainty, double flowers are produced in abundance in June and July along the gracefully arching branches of this lovely, deciduous shrub and contrast against the mid green leaves. On warm summer evenings the delicate, orange blossom fragrance can fill the surrounding air and brings an almost exotic ambiance. Manteau d Hermine is a more compact variety of the popular mock orange, which makes it excellent for gardens where space is limited or as a patio plant in a pot. Easy to grow in a sunny location in most soils including chalky ones and can also cope with urban pollution and salt-laden air. Can be used in a mixed planting or as a stand alone specimen in the garden or can easily be grown in a pot or container. When growing in a pot use a good quality compost. Ensure you feed regularly as a hungry plant is a poor performer. We recommend Osmoscote pro 8-9 month applied in spring. One application gives all the nutrients the plant requires for the whole year.
