Corylus avellana Red Majestic - Purple Hazel, Grafted - Plant in 9 cm Pot

Corylus avellana Red Majestic is derived from our native Hazel trees. A splendid plant with striking deep purple leaves, turning to clear purple reds in autumn. Purple pink catkins appear in late winter on the bare, attractively twisted and semi-weeping branches. A worthy addition to any garden for all year round interest that has been granted the RHS Award of Garden Merit. It is also an excellent woodland plant where there is dappled shade. Easy to grow in full sun or semi shade in almost any free draining soils. Good in chalky soils. In containers use a good quality compost. Ensure you feed regularly as a hungry plant is a poor performer. We recommend Osmoscote pro 8-9 month applied in late spring. One application gives all the nutrients the plant requires for the whole year. This listing is for well established, grafted plants, approximately 25 to 30cm tall excluding the pot.
