Wisteria sinensis - Chinese Wisteria - Grafted Plant in 9 cm Pot

Wisteria are perhaps one of the most memorable of all our climbing plants. In full flower they literally "cascade" with large racemes of often fragrant pea like flowers. Wisteria sinensis is the well known Chinese Wisteria. They differ from Japanese Wisteria in that they flower earlier, generally just before the foliage unfolds and the florets open sequentially giving a longer flowering period. A truly spectacular plant, producing superb racemes, up to 60cm long, of very fragrant, pea like, lilac/blue flowers from April to early June. The attractive light green leaflets, turn yellow in autumn. A vigorous variety, it is well suited to large walls or pergolas and is most likely the variety you will see in parks and gardens with a super thick trunk in excess of one hundred years old. One of the most robust and reliable of the Wisterias. Easy to grow in full sun or semi shade in most moist, free draining soils including chalky soils. Can be grown in the garden in a sunny location. It can easily be grown in a pot. Wherever you plant it, it will need something to grow up! When growing in a pot or other container. Use a good quality compost.
