Salix integra are native to Japan and Southern Korea. Salix. integra Hakuro Nishiki is a more compact cultivar with variegated leaves that was introduced from Japan in 1979, since when it has become very popular and has been granted the RHS Award of Garden Merit. A delightful, fast growing shrub with beautiful lanceolate foliage, emerging pink, turning creamy white and light green through spring, summer and into autumn. As winter approaches, the leaves fade to pale green before falling. At the same time, the new stems turn red to provide good winter colour. Ideal as a border plant, in a pot, on a patio, or will grow well beside water or in wet soils. Can be used in a mixed planting, or as a stand alone specimen in the garden. Prefers a full sun position in a moist soil. Does not grow well in chalky soils. When growing in a pot or other container. Use a good quality compost. Ensure you feed regularly as a hungry plant is a poor performer. We recommend Osmoscote pro 8 -9 month applied in the early spring. One application gives all the nutrients the plant requires for the whole year
This listing is for well-established three-year-old plants with many branches and approx. 50 to 70cm tall, excluding the pot.
