Salix gracilistyla are native to much of China and Japan and are one of the best catkin producing plants. Salix gracilistyla Mount Aso is an amazing new cultivar. An upright deciduous shrub that produces abundant pink fluffy catkins in late winter to early spring. The thin lanceolate green foliage has an attractive silver backing which adds interest during the summer. Easy to grow in a sunny location in almost any reasonably drained soil. Can be grown in the garden border in a pot on the patio. If growing in a pot or other container, use a good quality compost. Ensure you feed regularly as a hungry plant is a poor performer. We recommend Osmoscote pro 8-9 month applied in the early spring. One application gives all the nutrients the plant requires for the whole year. This listing is for large, heavily branched plants in a 5 Litre pot.
