Philadelphus are widely distributed around the temperate regions of the globe. Philadelphus Belle Etoile has been granted the RHS Award of Garden Merit and is a superb cultivar raised by the French nursery Lemoine during the early 1900's. Belle Etoile is a triploid cultivar (cannot produce seed) that produces a stunning display of 5cm wide white with purple flushed throats in June and July. Like most of the Philadelphus they also come with a strong heady fragrance! Easy to grow in a full sun or semi shade location in most moist, free draining soils. Can be used in a mixed planting or as a stand alone specimen in the garden or can easily be grown in a pot or container. If it becomes to large it can be cut back in spring. When growing in a pot or other container. Use a good quality compost. Ensure you feed regularly as a hungry plant is a poor performer. We recommend Osmoscote pro 8-9 month applied in spring. One application gives all the nutrients the plant requires for the whole year.
