Hydrangea paniculata Polar Bear-Hydrangea in 9 cm Pot

Hydrangea paniculata are known for the sheer size and ''show'' power of their flowers. Originating in Japan, China and Taiwan, various breeding programmes have produced improved varieties. Hydrangea paniculata Polar Bear is one such superb cultivar with three colour changes and extra large flower heads. Abundant, massive dense, cone shaped flower heads initially open lime green, gradually turning to white in late summer before dusky pink in autumn. Flowers can grow as large as 30 to 40cm in length. The dead heads are popular for use in dried flower arrangements, A superb border plant but compact enough for patio pots and containers. Can be used for quality hedging or group planting. Easy to grow in sun or semi shade in most fertile, moist soils. If growing in a pot or container use a John Innes compost. Ensure you feed regularly as such spectacular flower power makes this a hungry plant. We recommend Osmoscote pro 8-9 month applied in late spring. One application gives all the nutrients the plant requires for the whole year. John Innes is a soils based compost. In early spring cut back old season's growth.
