Berberis thunbergii Aurea - Golden Japanese Barberry - Plant in 2 L Pot

Berberis are native to large areas of the globe with temperate climates. Berberis thunbergii Aurea is a hardy deciduous shrub that is grown for its stunning yellow foliage in spring. In early spring very small and insignificant flowers are produced in the left axils and while these are of little aesthetic value, they are very attractive to many insects as an early spring source of food. With its rounded and compact habit, this easy to grow variety makes a great addition to any planting scheme where yellow is in the design theme. Superb as a contrast in plantings with other dark leaved Berberis. Easy to grow in full sun or semi shade in most free draining soils. This plant can be used in a mixed planting or as a stand alone specimen in the garden or can easily be grown in a pot or other container. Use a good quality compost. Ensure you feed regularly as a hungry plant is a poor performer. We recommend Osmoscote pro 8-9 month applied in the early spring. One application gives all the nutrients the plant requires for the whole year.
