Agave Victoriae-Reginae is found in the Chihuahuan Desert in the Mexican States of Coahuila, Durango and Nuevo León. Agave Victoriae-Reginae is a small evergreen species of succulent flowering perennial plant, noted for its streaks of white on sculptured geometrical leaves, very popular as an ornamental plant and has been granted the RHS Award of Garden Merit. In the Uk it is best grown as a house plant although it can happily be placed outside in the summer. Easy to grow in a well lit location in fertile, very free draining soil. Use a good quality multi purpopse compost to which a minimum of 50% horticultural sharp sand has been added and well mixed. The use of a controlled release fertiliser, such as Osmocote pro 8-9 month, at one quarter the manufacturer's recommended rate, is advisable to ensure sufficient nutrients. The compost should be allowed to dry between each watering, but not for long periods. Although this plant will tolerate a small amount of frost it is much better to keep frost free.
