Acacia dealbata - Blue Wattle - Plant in 9 cm Pot

Acacia are largely native to Australia. Acacia dealbata are generally hardy in the south of the Uk. and can be quite reliable further north if grown in a well sheltered, southerly facing aspect. They also make a lovely conservatory plant and are tolerant of regular pruning. A beautiful, small, evergreen tree or shrub, that has been granted the RHS Award of Garden Merit, it has feathery, fern like, blue grey foliage that provides interest year round and makes the perfect foil for the abundant, fluffy, pompom like, very fragrant yellow flowers that appear in late winter to early spring. A favourite for flower arranging and a good early source of nectar for bees and butterflies. Prefers a free draining soil, that is preferably neutral to acidic in a full sun location. Will not grow well in chalky soils. Can be planted in pots and containers on the patio, however do not allow the pot to freeze through. Use a good quality compost. Ensure you feed regularly as a hungry plant is a poor performer. We recommend Osmoscote pro 8-9 month applied in the early spring. One application gives all the nutrients the plant requires for the whole year.
